If you catch a trout and you want to eat it, it's helpful to know how to kill it quickly and humanely. One of my favorite methods is bonking it on the head with a rock. Instant death.

After a long hike up to Cloud's Rest, I picked up the brook trout that I caught earlier in the day that I kept alive in a cloth mesh bag in the lake. Then I bonked it on the head and took it back to camp where I cleaned it in the stream and threw it into my freeze-dried pasta...
