Megan Turner never intended to return to her small hometown. But when her mom got sick, everything changed. So, she’ll make the best of the situation and oversee the restoration of the building that will become her bakery. She will not, however, make the mistake of falling for her annoyingly attractive contractor. Not again, anyway…

Jake Sullivan lost the love of his life when he screwed up and broke Megan’s heart. But that’s in the past now. These days, being the best single dad he can be requires all his focus. So, he’ll handle her renovation, and absolutely will not entertain any unprofessional thoughts about his new boss. It should be easy. Except, it isn’t…

Can a little forced proximity—and a few determined matchmakers—convince Megan and Jake to take another shot at happily ever after? Maybe. But only if a particularly pesky ghost from Jake’s past doesn’t ruin it first…

Some distances are measured in miles.

Others in heartbeats…

A powerful reflection on love, self-discovery, and what it takes to come back together - stronger than before.

Told through the alternating voices of him and her, "The Distance Between Us" is a contemporary poetry collection that explores the emotional intensity of long-distance relationships, mental health struggles, and the fragile dance between breaking and healing. From aching heartbreak to tender reconnection, each verse unravels the tangled threads of passion, pain, and personal growth.

This raw, emotional journey is not just about falling apart—it’s about finding your way back, both to each other and to yourself. Emilia Mlak blends vulnerable storytelling with haunting hand-drawn illustrations, making this collection a visceral experience for readers navigating love, loss, and the silence in between.

Sometimes the only way to hold on is by learning to let go.

For sixteen-year-old Nina, communicating her emotions is ridiculously hard. She expresses those best through art, the one thing she’s good at. When she’s chosen to design the school mural, she’s ecstatic. It’s a chance to connect with Mom and make her proud, because even though they don’t always see eye to eye, Mom always loves Nina’s art. But Nina’s joy is cut short by the news that her mother's cancer has returned, and this time it’s terminal.

Nina can't accept Mom's decision to refuse further treatment. There must be a way to save her. If Mom won't find it, Nina will.

Consumed by her obsession to find a cure, Nina risks alienating the people she needs most—her friends, her family, and the boy who only wants to help.

Is it better to let Mom make her own choices about treatment, or should Nina keep pressing for a miracle, even if it builds an emotional wall between them?
