I did a scary thing, and I need your help!

Ominous, I know... the subject of this email. No, but for real. I did a scary thing, and this is just the beginning.

I wrote a psychological thriller.

I'd been working on it since November last year, but in truth, the research started much earlier. It is done, written, edited, and this week, I set up the pre-order on Amazon. My first thriller will release on September 9.

Launching a new pen name is ridiculously scary, even for someone who's been writing and publishing since 2015. What makes it worse is that this is super important to me because it's a genre that I absolutely love. I sort of started with it as a reader. The first books I read were adventure and crime novels. Romance came later, when I was thirteen-fourteen (still too young, if you ask me). So, yeah... I need your help to make this less scary.

Maybe some of you read psych thrillers when you're not reading romance, so I thought I should just ask. If you read Freida McFadden, for instance, this new book of mine should be right up your alley.

First things first: would you like an ARC?

If yes, then please hit reply to this email and let me know. I will send you an ARC of my psych thriller book next month. The book has gone through two rounds of edits, and now I just have to give it one last reread.

Second, will you please, please, pretty please add my brand new author profile on Facebook? God, social media is frightening when you have to start from square one. Especially if you have to do it in the year 2024. LOL So far, I've only made a Facebook profile and an Instagram profile for my thriller pen name, and it will take me a while to get them going. So, it would be extremely helpful if I could get an add and / or a follow from you.

Okay, but what's this new pen name? It's... *drum roll*... Joanna Margot. I thought long and hard about it. I chose Joanna because it's close to my real name - Oana. Actually, I can say it's the English version of my name. And Margot because my grandmother's name is Margaret.

And the book is called The Provider. Here is the cover, along with the blurb.

“From now on, all you have to do is exist. I will feed you, clothe you, and provide for you. And if you need anything, all you have to do is ask. I am watching and listening.”

Eveline Grace Davis has very particular reading tastes. The sort where she favors ebooks over paperbacks, so the covers won’t give away why she’s blushing in public. But someone’s been watching. Waiting. And that someone is taking Evie’s harmless fantasies literally.

When she wakes up in a basement, head pounding, hands chained to a bed, she’s terrified. Her kidnapper is a stranger. Tall, handsome, unhinged. He tells her he built this place just for her. It’s clean, comfortable, the walls are painted bright pink, and the closet is full of expensive dresses.

He plans to keep her. If she doesn’t behave, he’s not above physical and psychological torture. He says they can be perfect together. He’s the only one who can give her everything she desires, if she’ll simply let him provide.

To survive, Evie must follow her captor’s every rule. For one thing is certain: this is no romance.

If this sounds any good to you, I'd love to send you an ARC in July. Make sure you hit reply to this email and let me know. All I need is your name and the email address where you want me to send your ARC. I will be using BookFunnel.

Okay, that's the scary thing. I'm feeling better now that I told you about it.

In terms of romance, rest assured, I'm not giving up on the genre! I love it, and I will continue to write romance books.

Right now, I'm working on Guarded by the Leshy. Wed to the Lynx is locked and loaded, ready for release next week, and the paperback is already available on Amazon. I've been a busy bee, haha!

And I don't want to leave you like this, with nothing new to read, especially when it so happens that Layla Fae has a new release today, and it's crazy wicked. I can't wait to read it myself!

Devil's Deal

The devil craves my soul. It calls to him like the scent of fresh blood.

I am not afraid.

The night of summer solstice, I do something stupid. Drawn to the fire of magic, I approach the gods in their sacred circle. I am just a mortal, one of many. I shouldn’t merit their attention.

But behind the royal figures of the gods a shadow looms, menacing yellow eyes burning in its gloom. He asks me to dance. His clawed hands circle my waist, turning me to the sound of hoofbeats while his demonic voice whispers seductive lies in my ear. For one night, and one night only, I let him touch me.

When it’s morning and gods return to their shrines, he stays. His bloodthirsty shadow follows me, a dark cloak hiding me from the sun and the light of hope. Where I walk, flowers wither and children sicken, touched by his suffocating darkness.

The harder I chase him away, the more he enshrouds me in his powerful presence, his claws trapping my body, his will reaching for my soul.

He takes away my tribe and poisons my life, trying to break me so I take his deal. But the devil is in for a surprise.

I may give him my body, but I’ll never break. With nothing to lose, I am ready to fight.
