I'm back + a giveaway!

Hi everyone! Long time no see. I'm finally back from vacation, which wasn't exactly a vacation. No. It wasn't a vacation at all. For one, I was exhausted every day because my parents are all about getting up early to catch the first rays of sunshine, and two, I had to deal with the fiscal audit.
Every day, I was asked for extra documents, they wanted everything to be up to date, and I often had to stress my accountant to rush some reports because I had to send them. There were days when I was with my accountant on the phone and on messenger for hours, both making sure that what we were about to submit was as it should be. You have to understand what the main problem is here: I'm in Romania, and trust me when I say that the fiscal people here in Romania have NO idea what Amazon is, much less how it works. They asked me twice to explain to them what it is that I do, and how and for what I'm being paid. Who pays me, and where's the contract? Well, there is no contract... All I could give them was Amazon's Terms and Conditions, translated. Fortunately, after some back and forth, they understood and accepted that. But it was a hassle!
In Romania, there's still this belief that if you are a writer, you can't possibly make any money. Maybe you can make enough money to buy yourself a coffee once in a while... And, you know what? It's true. It really is. The only reason why I'm an exception and I can support myself through my writing is because I write in English and self-publish on Amazon. But anyone who writes in Romanian and publishes in Romania will not make a dime. Why? Because of a sad, sad truth: Romanians DON'T read. Yes, that's right. The people in my country simply don't read. I personally know people, and I'm friends with people, who haven't touched a book since high school, when they only read because they had to. So, you can understand why it's so hard for the fiscal people in my country to wrap their heads around the fact that there's this person (ME) who can support herself through writing.
I'm not rich by any means. But I can pay my rent, my bills, and buy food. I rarely buy clothes since I get out of the house so little. LOL I also buy a lot of candles, but aside from that... I couldn't even spend on holidays abroad since the world was closed. I'm far from buying my own house with the money I make from writing. Maybe I'll get there at some point, but not in the near future. What's most important to me is that I have this immense privilege to do what I love most, what I know best how to do, and not have to take a second job to make ends meet. I know I'm one of the lucky ones, so I'll just keep my head down, keep writing, keep giving you, my readers, the stories you want to read. That's the only path to success I know.
Wow. This got long. Haha! When I started writing this email, I had no intention of pouring my soul out. LOL I actually just wanted to tell you that I'm back home and I'll start working on the next project, that there's a giveaway you might want to enter, and share some book recommendations. So, I'll get to all that now.
