Ever wonder what the heart of an ORC looks like?

Or feels like, or tastes like... No, I'm just kidding. I don't know where I was going with that. It's just that I was trying to come up with a decent subject for this email, but my brain is mush after working every day on Year Three: Heroes, and I just can't anymore. LOL The book *will be* live next week! It's just been difficult to write, and I also think it's running a little longer than expected, but I haven't looked at the word count in a while. I'm just pushing and pushing until I can write those two beautiful, magical words - The End.

I wanted to drop into your Inbox today to tell you about this awesome series I'm planning for 2022. It's sci-fi romance, but most of the action will happen on Earth (and maybe on a space station, we'll see). It's got alien monsters and curvy heroines, it's going to be steamy, funny, and light. It's called MONSTER HEARTS, so now you know what the subject is about. I got the cover for the first book from my designer last week, and I set the pre-order, too excited to wait.

Okay, here it is!

Fresh out of college, with a degree in Biochemistry and wild dreams for the future, I can’t believe my luck when I get a job as a lab assistant with the mysterious organization IMRA. But then I find out IMRA stands for… umm… International Monster Research Association, and that… umm… alien monsters exist, and now I’m not even allowed to talk about my job at home!

Deep breath. I can handle this. I’m a professional, and this is a great opportunity.

Oh, what’s the job description? So glad you asked! It’s… let me check. Ah, right! Collecting test samples from a recently captured green-skinned beast that’s as tall as a mountain, a bit too growly for my taste, and could certainly break out of his cage if he wanted to.

An orc. I’m to collect various bodily fluids from an alien orc.

Deep breath. Don’t panic, Lou. Come on! You’re a professional. *sweat drop*

That is the big news I have for you today! Now I'm going back into the writing cave, because I have three more chapters left to write in Year Three: Heroes. I hope to tackle at least one by the end of the day. Normally, I would aim for two chapters a day, but this one is going to be big because it's... *drum roll*... the final battle! I'm excited to write it, but also a little bit scared. I hope I do it justice. In fact, I hope this LAST book in the Grim Reaper Academy series will do justice to the story and the promises I made to my readers. I hope Yolanda is the hero everyone was waiting for, because Mila tried and kind of failed. Oops.

Okay, I'm going. Lots of work! I hope you're having a great weekend, and I can't wait to email you when this baby is live (next week)!

I am trapped in Hell by a demon that seems to be more powerful than Satan himself. A prisoner in a nightmarish castle where I get lost in eerie mazes for days, while my baby grows inside me… I'm running out of time, but I cannot escape, so I have to strike a bargain with my captor. But what he wants from me is too much. I cannot give it to him and live with myself after.

I wish Adrian, Seth, and Davien would rescue me now. But this devil… this monster that calls himself the King in Yellow keeps them away. No one can penetrate his ancient magic. He’s more than he seems, more than he says. The only way I can return to my lovers and finish the job I started is to pass his trials and accept his proposal. I knew there would be a price to pay. I just never imagined it would be so… crushing.

Don't forget to pre-order Grimor the Joyless, too. He comes out on December 25th, and he's your Christmas present!

Faith Bell is in need of a miracle. A Christmas miracle. And not for herself, either, but for the children at the orphanage where she works. She’s an orphan herself, she’s penniless, and after a life of being in service of others, at twenty-five, she doesn’t have much going on. Not that she’d have it any other way, but the orphanage is going under. Without funding, and with less and less people willing to work for smiles and hugs, the orphanage will surely close. When humans turn their backs on their own orphans, Faith sees only one way out. She becomes an orc tribute.

Grimor the Joyless once had a different name. Back in the orc world, he inspired terror and awe. Now, in the world of humans, after so many years of meaningless peace, he can’t find his place. He’s lost his purpose. There is no word in his language to describe how he feels. There is a word in the humans’ language, but he’s forbidden his orcs from ever speaking it. His mage says he needs a bride. He’ll take one, if that means his horde will shut up about it and leave him be.
