OFFER THAT GUY
Our take: Taking the CFC scouting bureau by surprise as they made their way across the country for the CFC Prospect Game Tryout & Showcase, CFC150 linebacker Layne Johnson out of Regina, Saskatchewan was a testing stud. Running a 4.76 40 laser, Johnson was 14 out of over 300 prospects for his testing scores on the 40, shuttle, broad and vertical jump. It's not only his testing prowess that should earn him nods, his play on the field reflects his beast like qualities. You want a diamond in the ruff? Well, here you go.

Today Katie Uttley catches up with Scarborough, ON native DB Elia Lini, who's beginning chapter was a bit of a fluke that's turned into a lifelong journey.

Kato and Elia discuss how getting thrown on scout team with the linemen as a punishment helped him learn to love life in the trenches, how getting to meet Ray Lewis at a local boot camp inspired him to push harder in life, why his parents lack of football knowledge allows them to be the most supportive you can find, and how he became intrigued with genetic research in sports as a future career path ... But only after playing some Ivy League football.

SOUTH OF THE BORDER HEADLINES
- A Canadian player got released by his NFL team this week, but another was signed by an NFL team, so I guess things remained at a constant … kind of? DT Eli Ankou was released by the Bills following their first preseason game, while since then, K/P Lirim Hajrullahu has been signed by the Cowboys, who Ankou also happened to play for last season.
- Once again there were highs and lows for the Canadians in week 2 of NFL preseason action. We’ll save the best for last and start with the bad news, being that WR N’Keal Harry suffered a shoulder injury and will be out for 4 weeks. Now that we’re past that, some of the highs were CFC100 WR Josh Palmer scoring a TD, CB Tevaughn Campbell getting a pick, DT Christian Covington having 6 tackles, LB Alex Singleton having 7 tackles and a TFL, and TE Rysen John having 3 catches for 58 yards.
- An under-the-radar move after months of silence in the transfer portal and rumours he may go pro, CFC60 DL Mo Diallo has transferred to the PAC-12, where he’ll play for the Arizona Wildcats. The defensive lineman is down 20lbs, now listed at 6’5”, 285lbs, furthering his versatility to play inside and outside on the defensive line. Last year he was a first-team All-MAC performer, registering 19 tackles, 9.5 TFLs, and 3 sacks in 4 games.
- CFC60 OT Tyrone Webber added a couple of his biggest offers to date, snagging SEC offers from Auburn and Mississippi State. In addition, CFC100 Elic Ayomanor has announced that his commitment will be coming on Friday, and has narrowed it down to Cal, Stanford, and Tennessee.
RECRUITING TIP
Most popular questions from recruits this week?
The amount of scholarship money that has been offered is NOT an indication of how much playing time you are going to get in the upcoming season.
Bottom Line
The BEST players will see the most playing time. Many coaches will tell you that the way to get on the field is to perform. Earn your spot and opportunity to go out and play on game day.. ... CONTINUE READING TO LEARN MORE
