Do you want to get involved with translating Buddhist texts but need some background?

Dharma Realm Buddhist University is currently looking for new students to enroll in the Graduate Certificate Program in Buddhist Translation. This two-semester program from the International Institute for the Translation of Buddhist Texts integrates the translation of Buddhist texts with study, practice, and service in a monastic setting. Students will be able to delve into past and present theories on translation and interpretation, read classic texts from the Buddhist, Chinese, and Western traditions, and translate. Students skilled in other languages besides English and Chinese are welcome. Applications close July 21, 2021 and financial aid is available.

Students in the program follow Buddhist Text Translation Society’s Eight Guidelines for translators outlined by Venerable Master Hsuan Hua and get experience working in the Four Committees of translation.

“Translation Workshop is one of the classes that I am able to regularly do hands-on translation work every week, and I am always learning timely teachings that, despite being taught years before I was even born, are extremely relevant in my life.”  — Xuan
