Wakanda Forever! And how it affects you.

Aug 31, 2020 2:48 am

It’s another sad day in 2020.

What am I talking about? If you were a WAKANDA fan like I am, you would know that we received one of the most devastating news over the weekend on the passing of Chadwick Boseman, the guy who played King T’challa in the Marvel hit - Black Panther.

He was such an awesome awesome character; he brought the character to life and no one can forget how Black Panther made them feel. Ok all the hashtags of Wakanda Forever, all the cinema pictures. Oh Lord.

Now, he’s gone.

Not only is it sad that he’s gone at the age of 43, it is even sadder to learn that he had been battling colon cancer for four (4) years.

Ok, let me take that again! For four years he has been living with colon cancer which he discovered at stage 3 (which is pretty far gone already and so must have been really difficult).

In case you don’t understand what I just said, he brought us all those awesome movies you know including BLACK PANTHER while battling colon cancer.

Now that’s not just amazing if you come to think of it. It’s super super amazing!

Why am I talking about this? I mean, how does it concern you?

Supposing T’challa had discovered in 2016 that he was sick and he decided that he was going to focus on getting better and pause everything else about his life and only continue acting when he was better, what would happen? We wouldn’t have the awesome performance of the King T'challa in Black Panther.

We wouldn’t have all the other marvellous films that he has given to us and maybe the whole #WAKANDA movement would not be what it is today.

In other words, what is that thing that you are supposed to be doing which you are putting off because of some little inconvenience?

What is that thing that God has laid in your heart to do?

What is that thing that you feel is your purpose in life but you are not doing it because you believe that you have to deal with one thing first before you come back to it?

Just imagine what could have happened if T’challa had waited to deal with this one Cancer thing first before doing the movie?

Today he’s gone but the world remembers him. Twitter is abuzz, social media is buzzing, everyone is sending their condolences to his family. He can never be forgotten. People are calling for Black Panther 2 to be re-written without T'challa, cos no one is worthy to play that role.

Life means nothing without impact.

There gets to be a point where you have to think about something else apart from yourself and give of yourself to the world in a way that they would never forget. Over the past two weeks I taught over a hundred children The Art Of Writing. I encouraged the ones who liked to write and changed the minds of those who thought they didn't like to write.

I read and replied to 64 emails one night and gave them feedback on their writings. The responses I have got from them makes the five hours of sleep I missed worth it!

Today, sit down and look at all your gifts, sit down and look at where you are, your work and all the opportunities that surround you and think about how you can make lasting impact because without impact what are we here for anyway?

My name is Brenda Unu and I wish you a fabulous, impactful week ahead!

Long Live King T'challa.

Farewell Chadwick Boseman. You will always be remembered!
