How to be productive every single day

Aug 10, 2020 12:01 pm

The lockdown had affected my sense of timing and productivity.

Am I alone in this? Please tell me I'm not!

I spent my lockdown in a relaxed mode - wake, cook, read a book, watch a movie, sleep.

So these post-lockdown days are tasking on my mental faculties.

I mean, not only am I required to wake up early and go to work, I am also. required to be productive arrgghh! Adulting is hard, isn't it?

Not really.

There is a simple and clever way to achieve all your to-dos. By making lists! Yes. simple to-do lists.

I am a list person. I make a list at the beginning of my day. I make a list when I am going to the shops. I make a list when I earn some income. I make a list when I am planning a new product....

So, how exactly do lists work? Some psychologists say writing things down boosts the brain to act.

Some people don't believe it. They make lists and it doesn't work. I know, I know. I was there once.

Today I'll give you seven hacks that will make your lists more productive.

  1. WRITE YOUR TO-DO LISTS THE DAY BEFORE - Waking up sure of what to do ensures that the day doesn't run away from your grasp. You get into business right from when you wake up.
  2. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL RESOURCES FOR THE ITEMS ON YOUR LIST - Don't out down tasks that you cannot complete based on one thing of the other.
  3. SET A TIME LIMIT FOR TASKS - Don't leave tasks open ended, set time for each.
  4. HAVE A DIFFERENT LIST FOR DIFFERENT THINGS - The list for home chores should be different from office tasks etc.
  5. KNOW AND IDENTIFY WHAT IS A PRIORITY ON THE LIST - Prioritise! And if you are running behind, deal with the priorities first.
  6. WRITE THE OLD-FASHIONED WAY - Apps and reminders are great and all, bu old-fashioned writing in a notepad is best.
  7. DON'T LET YOUR EMAILS TAKE OVER YOUR DAY - schedule time to check and respond to emails. Don't keep responding all day.

The best part for me, is that my 7yr old son has started making lists. These children certainly do what they see us do. It's amazing. Better watch it, or they could be picking not-so-good habits too.

It's another Monday! Here's to a productive week, making lists that work. And yes, you can plan your weekend too like my work-life balance coach says. See above my own plan from a weekend before the pandemic. Who says weekends don't have to be productive?

I'm here rooting for you as always!

Wishing you the best week ahead.
