Paramedics, Step-Counters, and the Mental Health Connection

When you see paramedics in the news or on TV, you see them in motion.


They are lifting people, pushing stretchers, doing chest compressions. It’s a flurry of activity.


So, it never occurred to me, before I became a paramedic, just how sedentary the job is. Because, the things you don’t see in the news or in the movies are the time spent sitting in the driver’s seat, sitting in the charting room and sitting in the recliner, waiting for the next call.
