She shuddered as a knock rattled her hotel room door. Who could that be? She hadn’t ordered any room service. Nadine opened the door to a basket of goodies including a diaper, candy bars, pain medicine, and a stuffed animal. Her heart melted as tears pressed against the back of her eyelids. It was such a touching gift, but who was it from? Her head swiveled in each direction, but nobody was in sight and no card was attached. She brought the basket inside before going back to the hallway and to her neighbor’s door.  Perhaps they might have seen something. 

“Can I help you?” he asked in a booming voice. 

Her stomach clenched in a tight knot when her eyes moved from the middle of his rippled chest and up to his face. Salt and pepper hair resting on his shoulders framed an angular face. The pleasant smell of lavender emanated from him. Feeling the urge to run again, she never expected that the tall alien man was in the room right next to hers. How had she missed that?

“Er...um...I don’t think so,” she stammered. 

“Are you sure?” he asked leaning forward. 

Heat filled her cheeks, but she was paralyzed. This time, her legs wouldn’t allow her to move to get away from him. She wanted to stay, rather needed to stay, feeling it all the way down to the bones of her body.
