Is it cool just to say hi? 👋

Hey!
I have been pretty busy this week but I just wanted to send you a quick email to say hi.
I would love to start sending you useful tips and stuff about improving health, weight loss, metabolism and energy. But sometimes, it’s nice just to connect, say hi first, and let you know there’s a real person here behind the screen.
So hi!
And if you want some advice about how to curb emotional eating, check out this info about sugar.
Sugar is linked to emotional eating. It gives you a high and makes you feel better. When you have sugar in your body, your blood glucose levels spike. Dopamine is released and it makes you feel good.
Your body then secretes insulin to stabilize the blood sugar levels. Over time, this leads to insulin insensitivity and your body releases more insulin than required.
The excess insulin is stored as fat in the body. That’s how excess sugar consumption causes obesity.
It’s also the reason why you’re asked to reduce your carbohydrate intake when you’re trying to lose weight. The starchy carbs are being converted into glucose (sugar) and causing the whole cycle of blood sugar spikes and insulin release.
To make matters worse, sugar is highly addictive. After a sugar high, it will be followed by a sugar crash where you feel sad, tired or lethargic. The only way to ‘pick yourself up’ will be to eat or drink something sweet and your mood instantly gets better.
This vicious cycle MUST be broken because sugar is highly detrimental to your body in the long run. There are two ways you can go about it.
1) Gradually reduce your intake of sugar day by day
2) Or go cold turkey and cut it all out.
Going cold turkey will be a lot more difficult but you’ll break the cycle much faster.
However, if that’s too much for you, you can take the slower approach. Check ingredients of the foods you buy to see how much sugar they really contain. Start a food journal and write down what foods you’re consuming daily. Replace unhealthy food choices with healthier ones and keep progressing day by day.
While there are many other aspects to beating emotional eating, such as stress reduction, hormone balance etc. breaking your addiction to sugar is fundamental to fixing the entire problem.
