The Pony Express was very active in the Sacramento area, and I didn't realize how little I knew about it until I decided to write about it. In old town Sacramento there's a statue of a pony express rider on his horse at a full run. I've seen that statue many times, but now I have a bigger appreciation of the young men involved with the service.
