There I was sitting outside my local coffee shop, enjoying a perfect peppermint mocha, with an extra shot of espresso, when he walked up to order his own drink. Eli Canton. Just thinking of his name made my lip curl, and my eyes narrow. Sure, he was cute, very cute. With his brown hair always neatly cut, and those deep brown eyes I could barely resist. I shook my head, eye on the prize, not the cute guy.
“Oh, hey Randy, I didn’t see you there. How’s everything going,” he said, as he turned to me with a bright smile and his stupid beautiful dark eyes sparkling.
“Hello Eli,” I said without actually looking at him. If I looked too closely, I knew I’d be drawn into those eyes and end up saying things I didn’t want to say. But it was hard not to look, so I tried to peek at him from the corner of my eye.
He’d taken a sip of his drink while waiting for me to answer. His eyes drifted closed, and a soft moan fell from his lips at the taste. I wanted to be that cup so fucking bad right then, and I hated myself for it. And Eli too, mostly Eli. I cleared my throat and tried to look annoyed at the interruption.
