Happy New Year! I don't know about you, but my timeline is flooded with wellness & fitness influencers pushing rigorous workout routines & extreme diets for New Years.

Instead of committing to resolutions that won’t make it past January, let’s ease into the New Year, shall we? It is still winter after all, a time for rest, restoration and recovery.

I’ve come up with some ideas for simple goals and habits to try this month, each corresponding to a foundation of Nutritional Therapy. Try one or two or three!

Nutrient-Dense Diet:

 - eat 1 tin of sardines 1x a week

 - add a spoonful of fermented veggies to breakfast

 - learn to make your own bone broth

Sleep:

 - read 5-10 pages of a book before bed instead of scrolling

 - take magnesium before bed

 - no alcohol for 30 days

Stress:

 - try alternate nostril breathing for a few minutes each day

 - put your legs up the wall for five minutes after work or before bed

 - walk outside for 20 minutes daily

Blood Sugar Regulation:

 - pick 1 recipe to batch prep a meal for the week

 - weight train 2-3x a week

 - eat a savory breakfast every morning

Digestion:

 - take digestive bitters or apple cider vinegar at least once a day before meals

 - eat 20g of fiber daily

 - drink 1oz of aloe vera juice daily

As always, my strategy is never to overwhelm you with what you should be doing, but rather educating you with useful tools and supportive strategies you can use in your every day life. Remember, a drastic lifestyle change or diet can only last so long…it’s the boring, subtle shifts we weave into our daily lives that give us lasting change.
