A lead magnet is a free resource that you give in exchange for the email address of your prospect.
You can choose between these two solutions:
1. Your lead magnet provides education straight away.
Examples of lead magnet format: free course, masterclass, email course (if you really love writing, it can be your solution), challenge, webinar …
This is an approach I love because people who sign up are very good quality leads BUT the cost per lead is higher than the second solution.
If they sign up it means they want and need to learn, and they are willing to put in the time to do so.
The huge advantage of doing this is you showing up.
2. Your lead magnet provides instant gratification and is quick to consume.
Examples of lead magnet format: Cheatsheet, tool (like a google sheet file, a swipe file, a template), case study, quiz…
For this type of lead magnet, it is even more important to create an email sequence after they sign up that will educate your leads AND to have something on the backend. For example a Facebook Group where you nurture your leads.
The choice of this type of lead magnet is very important, because you need to attract quality leads. And because a cheatsheet or a PDF guide is more instant gratification than the first solution with a course etc… you need to choose the right subject to make sure you attract the right leads.
This solution usually gives the lowest cost per lead and can be your solution to start building your list and start nurturing leads your leads!
Your Lead Magnet is VERY important because this is the front door or your lead generation funnel.
