Hello ,

Earlier in the year, I was commissioned by Lonely Planet – one of the world’s biggest guidebook publishers – to write a series of digital guides for Lagos.

Lagos, you might be pleased to learn, is on LP’s reputable “Best in Travel” List and chosen as one of the Top 10 cities to visit in 2022, sharing the spotlight with other cities like: Aucland, Atlanta, Dublin and Florence.

To work on the brief I criss-crossed the city, visiting and re-visiting places of interest – familiar and otherwise. Two of the stories were published just days ago, and I thought it would be great to share them with you.

I hope you enjoy this view of Lagos, through my eyes. If you do, please feel free to share with friends, family and all other persons in your network – home and abroad -- you think would enjoy reading them, or find them useful.

At the end of the month, I’ll be teaching a masterclass in travel writing, targeted at younger Nigerian travel writers and bloggers. It’s something that was always in my to-do list, so I’m glad it’s finally happening.

Interested participants are only required to pay for my E-book (Nine Degrees North: Backpacking Stories Across Nigeria), which can be downloaded

(If you’d love to do some armchair travel too, please get your copy likewise).

I believe Nigeria’s unflattering perception everywhere will be helped if we had many more travel writers doing what travel writers do for destinations worldwide.

So, I’m hoping this little step will contribute to that reality -- in the short, medium and long term.
