How to get better at Cycling...without cycling?

Oct 21, 2025 5:08 pm

As fall sets in, it brings most of us to the end of a racing season, unless you live in Australia or New Zealand and your spring and summer are headed in!

It is this time of year that everyone is thinking...how can I get faster next season? How can I avoid overuse injuries? How can I get stronger.

The answer is not as hard you as you may think.

Running. Yes, I did say running. Adding a run once a week to your training schedule will help strengthen your bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and facia!

Now don't go out and start running 10 miles, work into it by starting with maybe a half mile walk/jog. Build up to running a full mile, and then add to your mileage from there.

Personally I usually only get up to a 6-8 mile run at my longest and during a race week will usually stick to something under 2 miles.
