Hi ,

Thanks for being part of the BFCST mailing list. Expect regular communications on all Trust activity and initiatives, events, club announcements, and reviews of all of our meetings.

Carry on reading for February's snapshot update and add info@bfcst.co.uk to your safe sender list to avoid the spam folder.

Before we played Bournemouth at Oakwell on Saturday 29th January, we asked supporters to vent any frustrations 'respectfully, lawfully, and not to put the club or anyone in the ground at risk of future punishment'. We also pleaded for supporters to display their emotions 'in the right way and done with the safety of everyone in mind'. You can read that update here.

Barnsley FC: Challenging Times

Ahead of the visit of QPR this Saturday, we repeat the message that the safety of your fellow supporters is paramount and encourage lawful behaviour. Recent vandalism has been unacceptable and not a true reflection of the thousands of Barnsley supporters who behave impeccably both home and away. Be loud. Be proud. Be heard. But be respectful to those around you.

Mistakes have been made in the running of the football club. In the same article shared above, our message to the ownership group was clear around 'open and honest' conversation. As a Supporters' Trust we're still pushing for access to Paul Conway and the board, however right now we're no closer to agreeing a date for February. We'll announce a confirmed date through our regular channels as soon as we have an update.

With Covid restrictions now fully lifted we'll soon be announcing our next BFCST Members Meeting. During this turbulent time for our football club, the first priority has been speaking to all relevant stakeholders at Barnsley FC before going out to members with all our information.

You can watch the near three hour interview with Khaled El-Ahmad here, and we'll use the info from this, along with what we know from other meetings behind the scenes, to bring all members a really clear picture of current events at Oakwell. The long term and prosperous future of Barnsley Football Club is, and always has been, our number one goal, and we're committed to securing that for all Barnsley supporters.

BFCST held a Coach Organisers Police/Barnsley FC Meeting on 27th January at Barnsley Metrodome. Various supported groups attended and heard direct from Safety Officer Paul Davis to clarify coach travel and police engagement.

As a follow up to this Barnsley Football Club are holding a meeting with supporter groups next week to look at the above in greater detail, and discuss recent fan behaviour. An update from this meeting will follow.

imageIn the last four weeks we've attended eight Football Supporters' Association meetings. These have focused around the fan-led review, long distance midweek travel, away ticket pricing and campaigning for a flat rate across the Championship, and fan behaviour across football. Three senior representatives from Reading, Hull and Fulham will be meeting with the EFL and the FSA on 21st February to discuss these matters further. We'll update Barnsley supporters in more detail at the next Trust Meeting.
