Beyond Myself

Hi ! Kamusta??

It’s been so long since I’ve written you guys an email! Pano ba naman, life happened.

My in-laws got COVID, the kids started online school (Three of them! Whew!), and we started our live shows over at the BeyondKilig Facebook page — and all these happened within a month!

To say that August was pretty action-packed for me would be an extreme understatement.

Was it challenging? You bet!

Was there a point in all of it where I wished na sana I didn’t have to go through all of those nalang?  No.

Masokista much? Not really. Haha.

It’s just that months ago, our team was having our usual TOB Tuesdays where we listen to talks on Theology of the Body and one of the talks mentioned a concept that really struck me: the fullness of unknowing.

The main point of the speaker?

That we should just know one thing: that Christ has saved us. She wants us to rest in that thought and to be content in not knowing everything.

Ang ganda diba?  Our faith should be strong enough that even in the darkest of times, we should keep in mind how much God loves us.

If His love is so great that he offered His life for us, then it can only be a love that would only want what’s best for us.  Even if at that moment, it doesn’t really make sense to us yet.

Another effect of that insight in my life?  Saying yes to whatever He throws my way.  Which often includes having to go beyond myself and my comfort zone.

If you told me a year ago - no, even just six months ago - that I’d be doing Facebook lives talking about love and sharing anecdotes about my personal life, I would have totally thought you were nuts for even thinking it were possible.

But lo and behold, we’re four shows in and it doesn’t seem like we’re stopping anytime soon!

Going live is really one of the scariest and most nerve-wracking things I’ve ever done in my life.  I feel so vulnerable when I do it!

But when I think about how Theology of the Body has enriched my life and how the stories and insights we share can also possibly change someone else’s life, the challenge - which seemed insurmountable at first - suddenly seems more manageable.

And you know what?  After every instance where I am asked to go beyond myself, after every hurdle I get to overcome, I realize that I am bigger, stronger, and braver pala than I initially thought.

Kayo ba? Have there been instances in your lives when you felt the call to go beyond yourselves?

Tara, kwentuhan tayo about it on our live show this evening!  Our show is aptly entitled: BeyondMyself.

We’ll be inviting our TOB Mother (aka Mentor), Carmela Vertido, and she’ll be sharing about how she felt the need to go beyond herself and why she still continues to do so.

Hope to see you all there!

Watch via our Facebook Page or Youtube later at 8:30pm :)

As always, I sincerely hope that through these emails we send you, we are able to inspire you to love, beyond kilig.

Yours Truly,

Carla
