Hello
How are you? I hope you are safe.
It's been rainy these days! It is so nice to stay in.
, have you looked at yourself in the mirror recently and admired what you see?
Or did you dread it and avoid it because you see imperfections in your body?
At some point, reality just hit me. That this is my one and only body and no else is like me...that I only have this life to live!
Today, I want to tackle with you an important concept in TOB (Theology of the Body) called “Sacramentality of the Body.”
So, what does it mean to be a sacrament?
A sacrament is a sacred and visible sign instituted by Jesus to give us grace, an undeserved gift from God (catholicscomehome.org).
, your body is a sacrament! It is sacred.
Our body is a sign of a great spiritual and divine mystery making visible the invisible.
, your body reveals God!
With this statement, I invite you to reflect on what it means “ that YOU are made in the image and likeness of God.”
This is an invitation to think again, do you really appreciate and take care of your body?
If we see ourselves as a gift from God to others, we will find meaning in serving others in one’s profession and daily duties.
Indeed, we are instruments of love. Through our bodies, we give and receive love.
Even our body and soul is a dwelling place of God.
When we receive the Holy Eucharist in Holy communion, we receive Him with our body.
If the beauty of nature makes us praise God, how often have we forgotten to praise Him through our body and even praise Him when we see beauty in others.
Let us remember what it means to be a sacrament-- a sign of God’s love.
Sincerely,
Anne
