April almost Ruined my TikTok ads...

The month of April almost ruined my TikTok ads. I’m not exaggerating.
Campaigns that had been working for months started failing -one after the other.
Ad rejections. Tracking issues. Leads dropping in quality.
At some point, it felt like everything was breaking at once.
It started with ad rejections. These weren’t new creatives.
These were ads that had been running successfully for over 6 months.
Then suddenly, TikTok started flagging them. Left, right, center.
Before I could even stabilize that… Another problem showed up. Tracking.
The numbers on my dashboard stopped matching reality. We’d see 1,000 “leads” on TikTok…
…but barely 500 showing up where it actually mattered. That’s half the leads gone. Just like that!!!
And then came the final blow. Even the leads that came in? Low quality. Conversions dropped. Sales slowed down.
Now here’s the part most people won’t tell you:
This is normal. Not the problem itself. But the phase.
Every serious advertiser hits it. The difference is what you do next.
Instead of panicking, I started looking for patterns. And that’s where things changed.
First fix — Ad Rejections
I realized TikTok had tightened their system. More AI. Less human judgment. So I adjusted:
- I stopped telling people to comment specific words
- Removed phrases like “no experience needed” or “no risk”
- Made my messaging more realistic and compliant
Result?
Rejections dropped almost immediately.
Second fix — The Funnel
The biggest leak was coming from WhatsApp. So I cut it off. Completely.
Instead, I started:
- Sending traffic directly to a sales page
- Or into a webinar funnel
That one decision fixed the tracking issue. No more missing leads.
Third fix — Conversions
This one surprised me. At first, the new funnel worked. Then conversions started dropping again.
So I went deeper. And I noticed something:
The longer the webinar, the worse it performed.
In one campaign, we replaced a 1-hour webinar with an 8-minute video.
The 8-minute video won.
Easily!!!
That’s when it clicked. TikTok traffic doesn’t have patience. They don’t want long stories. They want:
What is this?
How does it help me?
How much is it?
Simple.
So we cut everything else out. No fluff. No unnecessary storytelling. Just straight value.
And almost instantly.... Conversions went back up. Sales picked up again. And everything stabilized.
April was rough. No doubt. But it forced me to adjust. And those adjustments? They’ve made my campaigns stronger going into May.
If you’re running TikTok ads right now and things feel off… Check these three things:
- Are your ads compliant with current policies?
- Is your funnel leaking (especially through WhatsApp)?
- Are you making your message too long?
Fix those and your results can change fast.
