Picking a niche is a bad advice.

Before you eat me raw, listen to what I have to say.

I know right now in your head, you're trying to understand where this is coming from.

Such is expected. Especially if you've been used to; "Pick a niche".

It's everywhere; On Twitter... TikTok... Instagram... Youtube... I mean everywhere.

Every YouTube video targeted at beginners starts with [ --------- ]. You know it; Pick a niche.

Content creators, freelancers, affiliate marketers... they all say this.

I call it the pick-a-niche syndrome.

"So Benson, how could such a widely accepted advice be wrong?

You'll decide for yourself at the end of this email.

However, before we go deep into that, I have vital information to share with you.

If you're already creating content on TikTok either as a business owner, affiliate marketer or freelancer. Yet, you feel stuck.

I mean... your followers are not growing. You struggle with generating content ideas. You can't edit attention-grabbing videos.

Then I have something that will help you.

Got that? Cool

Back to why we are here...

I stand by my earlier utterances. Picking a niche is not a good advice. And here are my reasons:

1- It turns you into a competitor:  By picking a niche, you've chosen to play in a market created by others. You can never win playing a game like that. You will only die trying.

Or have you not thought about it? This is your third year of switching between niches. Yet, you're still struggling to make headway.

Why compete when you can innovate?

Why compete when you can create uncontested market space and make the competition irrelevant?

2- It's vague: When somebody tells you to pick a niche, what exactly are they telling you to do?

Should you do what you love? Should you serve where you get paid the most?

No matter how you think about it. There is simply no clear roadmap to choosing a niche.

3- To succeed in anything in life, you must be consistent. You must show up every day. No doubt that.

Engines are lubricated by engine oils. Replace that with any other fluid & there's a problem; the engine knocks.

Our mind also works in a way similar to that. Inconsistency becomes the order of the day once you try to introduce what has not been part of you into your life.

And that is what picking a niche encourages you to do. "Look at what others are doing & use that to decide what you want to do"

If you do that, your mind, body & soul knocks. Just like an engine. It stops performing.

"If picking a niche is not the way to go. What's the alternative?"

My reply: DO THE OPPOSITE

Mind you, Not picking a niche is not the opposite of picking a niche.

Stay glued to my list. Part 2 of this mail is coming up on Wednesday 24th of January. It will hit your inbox same time, 6 pm. I will explain what I mean in the next mail.
