It happened that. One Sunday morning. A friend visited me in my apartment. Throughout our time together...

I observed he was glued to his phone -using TikTok.

Since a long time ago. I've always believed that app was for jobless people.

So, it came as a rude shock to me. That my friend (a resourceful one at that) has made this "useless app" his favorite social media platform. God forbid!!! 

So, I asked him. "What value does this app bring to your life?"

Maybe he knows something I don't know. And yes, I was right. He sure did. He knew something about the app that I didn't know.

And that was... 

The power of the "TikTok algorithm"

He explained to me:

"TikTok is an app that becomes what you make of it".

"Just like your phone. When you input the letter "A". It displays "A". Except something is wrong with yours😂😂"

"Whichever video you see on your TikTok feed is a result of how you've previously interacted with a similar video".

And he demonstrated that to me.

On my TikTok app. He Searched for the following:

• Marketing;
• Sales
• Closing...

And everything he knew I would be interested in. He then spent a few minutes interacting with the results...

By the time I'll go back to my TikTok homepage, My feed which used to be filled with stupid videos... 

Became a powerhouse for learning.

This revelation about the algo reshaped my mind.

I said to myself...

"If this app could be this smart". Then it must in a way be useful for my business. And I'd to figure that out.

Then I thought about it...

These Creators on TikTok, how about I use them to promote my products?

Which I did.

Paid one about 10,000 naira. He created & uploaded a video about my product on his page.

And in the first 6 hours... I received well over 300 new messages through him. Same week, I did 100k+ in sales.

That week, I said Bye-bye to every other lead gen source. They've shown me enough Sege (problems).

I've realized using TikTok influencers to generate leads was the way forward.
