You don't have to say anything
Jul 25, 2023 10:34 am
Hey , how's it going?
Since my emails are no longer as frequent as before (when I mailed 1x daily or 3x weekly)...
I thought I'd try to spice up this email.
On that note, here are a couple of random thoughts I'd like to share with you today.
In no particular order:
----
By now, you've probably heard this over a dozen times
That to build a very responsive audience that buys...
You have to post on social media every day
Or send out a mail every day
Not bad (if it rocks your boat..)
But here's what I think:
If you ain't got anything to say...
You really don't have to say anything.
I'm hardly even active on social media these days
And if you've been on my list long enough...
You probably already know there are days(even weeks...)
When I just disappear without notice
Then after a while...
I come out of my shell again.
And life continues...
You probably won't agree with this...
But the reality is:
People(your readers/followers) actually don't expect you to have something to say every time/everyday
After all, you're human...
And they'll be days when your creative juices just won't flow as much as they normally do.
In such cases...I think it's okay to chill.
But the thing is...
Sometimes, you're tempted to force it
Especially on Social Media...
Where it often feels like everyone else is posting and getting mad engagement(+ 100s of new followers daily...)
And you're being left behind.
So you try to force it...
But it very often doesn't make much of a difference
Because most times...
In a bid to "just put out something..."
You often wind up saying something really dumb or off (That you look at later and realize you screwed up...)
And once that happens...
You can't really undo the damage.
It's like forcing yourself to say something every time you're in a meeting or out in public...
Just so it doesn't look like everyone is talking (and you—the boring one—ain't saying anything...)
Or just so you can score some points
Or prove you're not boring...
It usually doesn't end well.
Sometimes, you even end up looking like a clown
Not exactly the kinda stuff that makes your creator proud.
Understand—I'm not saying don't put in the work to create magic for your audience as often as possible...
Or that you need not be consistent
All I'm saying is:
Sometimes, when you don't have anything to say...
It's okay to chill...
A day or 2 (or more) off...
Then come back with a fresh breath of air...
Not even sure what that means
But I hope this helps make you feel better...
On days when you don't have anything to say...
On social media.. or to your email subscribers.
