Dear All
"You're invited!"
These are perhaps the most important words you can say to make a difference to our BOS community this week!
Our own market research last October showed clearly that the vast majority of our audience come because they want to see YOU play and because YOU invited them!
Please invite everyone you know to our Sinfonia concert this Saturday, especially those who have never been to a concert or have just been to one. It is a perfect progamme for first-timers and Ian always gives lots of pointers to guide the audience through the pieces.
Many thanks to our Front of House team, led by Richard Robinson, and the BOS Youth Ambassadors, who do such an important job in welcoming our guests.
There are still 30 FREE tickets for Under 18s available! This is a great concert, especially for those who are learning the clarinet. Do please share this opportunity with your friends, family and neighbours. Here's the link: https://forms.gle/ksLifX4yhwtq483e6
A reminder that there is a pre-concert talk at 6.30-7pm - all performers and audience are invited and very welcome. Paul is a very entertaining speaker as well as a great performer, teacher, composer, conductor, author, festival organiser. Do come along and bring your concert guests! There is also a tea/coffee plus cake opportunity at 7pm (provided by St Paul's) so you can take a little pause before playing at 7.30pm.
Ian and Paul joined me on a podcast episode a couple of weeks ago, that we have released this week. To tune in and hear more about the programme and Paul's musical career:
Finally, thanks to Ian and all those playing, some of whom are performing with Sinfonia for the first time. It's great to have you onboard. Some commented how friendly everyone has been and how much they're enjoying the rehearsals! A special thanks to our Section Leaders and fixers and Ben for all their hard work to get us all there and sort out music/instrumentation/bowings/parts. It's all coming together now!
Rehearsal Information:
Attendance at all rehearsals was great last week across both orchestras - thanks to you all. I think we had an almost 100% turnout!
BSO are thoroughly enjoying their new rehearsal venue at BGI with a great acoustic, a gorgeous view of the Bedfordshire countryside from our seats and even a sunset out of the windows. Thanks also to Julia Lence who brought flapjoacks with a lemon drizzle icing for the breaktime. Delicious!
Thank you also to those in BSO and Sinfonia who arrive with a bit of time to spare, set up chairs and who are ready and seated at 7.25pm. Of course, for some members with work/family commitments, it's not possible - and life happens for us all! With most people seated at 7.25pm, it gives time for us a couple of notices, time to tune and "baton down" at 7.30pm, giving us a great start to the evening rehearsal.
BSO Members: To ensure we know who is in the BGI building, we would like BSO members to sign in please against your name as you arrive at the Reception desk just inside the main entrance.
For health and safety reasons/fire regulations, we want to take this opportunity to tighten up our procedures and it shouldn't take you more than a couple of seconds. We aim to have a member of the Committee there to welcome you and answer any questions you may have. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and helping us to keep everyone safe.

Looking for free Under 18s tickets to our upcoming concerts?
Our Summer Social for all BSO and Sinfonia Members is coming up. Please see the message to you from Julia Robinson. Thanks, Julia, for organising such a treat for us. All welcome!
Dear All,
You are invited to a summer social get together on the 11th June
We have approached The Pheasant on the roundabout at the Kimbolton road/Avon drive junction and they would be delighted to see us from 6.30pm onwards.
There is a large covered outside area so plenty of room for us to mingle freely and come and go at will.
For those who would like to eat, you can order when there.
It would be lovely to see our younger members there too - (for safeguarding reasons you would have to bring a parent/guardian.)
If you would like to do this, please will you email me in the next week or so
so I have some general idea of numbers and can inform the pub.
Here’s looking forward for a fun evening.
Many thanks.
Julia R.
