Just because a free security app is popular, doesn’t mean it’s safe.

This is particularly true for Android smartphones, but the advice is sound across the board.

Some free security apps put your privacy and security at an increased risk. Some have data trackers, and even give links to potentially malicious domains.

My advice would always be to check out an app before you download it. And especially if it’s being downloaded to a device you use for work.

If you’re unsure on the best security app to use on your work-issued devices, ask your IT support partner.
