Financial Literacy month Tax Refund tips

Hi ,

Hope this email finds you well. If you recently celebrated Easter (if you celebrate), hope you had a good holiday with your loved ones.

Before I get into tax refund tips in honor of financial literacy month, just a quick update from my last email. My dad is still in the hospital with a bad liver infection. He is feeling better but as a caregiver its' always one day at a time.

Now on to the tax refund tips. If you are getting a refund this year, here are ways you can use that money.

  1. Build an emergency fund. Studies have shown most Americans don't even have $1000 saved for emergencies.
  2. If you have an emergency fund, add to it. Money experts suggest having at least 3-6 months of household expenses. At least have 1 month.
  3. Pay down any high interest debt. The way this ecomony is going and interest rates always changing, a good idea is to pay down as much debt as you can.
  4. If you don't have a life insurance policy, get you one, preferrably a term life. No shade, but we are no longer doing gofundme pages to cover funerals in 2026!
  5. Start a retirement account. Do your research! Some companies you can start as little a adding $10 to open an account.
  6. Put the money in a high yield savings account. I have included a referral link to Ally, one of the top high yield savings accounts out there to get started on saving money if thats' your goal.
  7. Spend it as you wish. You work hard, you might be stressed, overwhelmed with what is happening in the world. You deserve to live your life as you wish.

Talk soon folks, stay safe!
