Dear [
It happens in quiet moments. Maybe it's in your car, between rushing your child to soccer practice and picking up your parents' prescriptions. Or late at night, after finally getting everyone settled, when the house is silent except for your racing thoughts. That's when it hits you - the weight of it all. The endless juggling act of tbeing in the sandwich generation. The constant switching between roles: parent, child, employee, advocate, nurse, coordinator. The relentless mental load of tracking medications, appointments, school events, and work deadlines.
Beneath it all, a truth that rarely gets spoken: the profound isolation of carrying this load as a person of Color in our community. I do this every day, managing work, being a husband, father, son & caregiver to my dad. It's freaking HARD!!
Just know that I see you. I know you are navigating insurance systems that weren't designed with our communities in mind. I know how hard it is to search for culturally competent healthcare providers. It is hard to manage family expectations while trying to maintain your own wellbeing. Working twice as hard to access resources that seem just out of reach, all while trying to Holding it all together, even when anger turns to tears behind closed doors. It is beyond frustrating when people don't recognize the emotional labor you're performing every single day.
The exhaustion deepens when you realize how few spaces exist where you can truly let your guard down and be understood. While others speak of self-care, you're wondering who has time when there are endless needs to meet, forms to fill out, and systems to navigate. But here's what we know to be true: These aren't individual struggles. They're shared experiences that echo through our community. And they deserve to be acknowledged, honored, and supported.
This is where I came in to create a space where: - Your feelings are valid - whether they're frustration, exhaustion, or grief. Your experience as a caregiver of Color is understood and centered. Your need for community is met with open arms. Your strength is celebrated, even in moments of vulnerability.
Join us for our upcoming support circle this Sunday 11/24/24 at 6pm est.
Together, we can break the silence around our shared struggles, share wisdom that only comes from lived experience. Let's build the community we all wish we'd had from the start because the truth is, while caregiving may feel like a solitary journey, it was never meant to be walked alone.
In solidarity,
