Hi friend,
Thank you for being one of the earliest supporters of Barn Burnt Down. Each week I'll be sharing new articles that expand from the month's feature, as well as other content I've found interesting. This month's feature is Squandered Skylines: The Future of Real Estate in a Post-Pandemic Society, I encourage you to read that first.
This Week's Update
New Articles!
- How an idea from 1932 may be the answer for the future of work, cities, and happiness. This is an expansion article from Squandered Skylines. Here I go deeper about Frank Lloyd Wright's Broadacre City vision and cover the Usonia home he built.
- Companies can attract talent with a new perk: Healthy Offices. Company perks today consist of doggy-daycare and ping pong tables, but after the pandemic it seems the best perk to offer is a state-of-the-art healthy office.
Recommended Reading / Listening
- 99% Invisible is a wonderful podcast about design elements that hide in plain sight. The team did a great episode on Usonia, which was Frank Lloyd Wright's answer to affordable, but elegant homes, that would cost $5,000β $90,000 in today's dollars. Listen here.
- Antifragile: Things That Gain from Disorder by Nassim Taleb. The world has been turned upside down. Everything has changed. Forget trying to go back to "normal." I've been focused on how to be more resilient from this pandemic.
Enjoy! I hope you're doing well and have a great week.
