Build In Silence, they will Find You!

Last year when we decided to move Barinaada Legal to a new and permanent location, I almost made a fatal mistake that would have cost me millions of Naira and lots of opportunities had I not quickly snapped out of it.
You see, when we started making plans to get the space and properly restructure the firm, I was advised not to disclose anything about what we were doing on social media yet.
"Don't post any pictures yet",
" don't do any video",
" just be building and setting up in silence then when it's all complete you can now share and let them see what you have been up to".
In other words, I was advised to build in silence!
This advice came from concerned family and friends.
They didn't mean any harm, they meant well.
So I listened to them, for a good two (2) weeks.
I was building in silence.
From when we got our team of workers together and hired a project manager, I listened to them.
From the whole physical restructuring of the firm to buying everything that we needed to make the office conducive, I listened to them.
Then one night, Alex and I gave the whole thing a second thought again and we realized that we were about to make a very serious mistake.
We were both in the online space, we understood content marketing, and we understood the importance of storytelling.
We knew that sharing our growth journey and all that we were putting together did not mean that we were bragging, even though I like to think that we've earned the right to do that.
Right there and then, we decided not to take the "advice" anymore.
we started to share our behind-the-scenes of the setting up of the firm.
We took pictures, made videos...
we were sharing everything and carrying everyone along on each milestone achieved and on the days we had difficulty we shared that as well.
We understood that sharing behind the scene story was a good marketing strategy.
Guess what happened when we started to share our story...
First, It increased Barinaada Legal brand visibility and perception.
It also increased my personal brand perception as well.
2nd, we signed up our first two retainers running into multiple multiple 7 figures in the month of April 2021 barely a few weeks from when we started sharing our story.
3rd, it opened the doors to more opportunities, collaborations, and more clients for BL.
And of course, it helped us in our positioning as a Startup focused law firm.
Imagine if I had continued with the mistake of building in silence.
Listen, as far as you are leveraging social media for your business, you can't afford to build in silence.
The biggest mistake you will ever make is to buy the lie of building in silence and letting your result speak for you.
Do you want to surprise people?
You will end up surprising yourself.
Oh no, you will get lots of congratulations o.
But that will be it...
Congratulations and likes.
It will not transform into money in your pocket.
If you are building anything, let people know about it, show us your process, the behind the scenes of your work.
The legendary Marketer, Dan Kennedy has a book titled "Big Mouth, Big Money".
I think every business owner needs to not just read the book but study Dan more closely to understand the intricacies of promotion.
Jesus was the most creative marketer that the world has ever known and here is what he said...
“No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light".
Don't build or hustle in silence, it never pays anyone.
I hope this was helpful to you ?
Let us know how we can help the legal aspect of your business today.
Cheers!
P.S. Don't share your trade secrets or confidential information in the name of storytelling or content creation o.
I know I have written to you before about the mistake of doing that.
