When Do You Dig A Well?

May 20, 2022 10:20 am

Hello #smartbusinessowner .

It's been a couple of minutes!

did you miss me?

anyways, I am here now...

I won’t let the week end without coming to your inbox to say hello😍

So today, let us talk a little bit about Structure.

There is an African proverb that says…you don’t dig a well when you are thirsty.

That is a fancy way of saying that you better make sure you have your water ready before the thirst comes.

And this is why I tell startup founders to build legal structure early before they need it.

According to the dictionary, the structure simply means the arrangement of and relations between the parts or elements of something complex.

What could be more complex than a business?

And what could be more complex than the many legal demons surrounding your business waiting to eat it up!

a few weeks ago, one of our early and key staff left.

It was disheartening because I was just a few days away from delivery.

But because my business has some sort of recruitment and emergency responses system as a part of its structure, things didn’t stop...

We reassigned roles, engaged our emergency options, got new hands, and moved on quickly.

Business never stopped and clients never noticed.

That is what structure can do for you.

The worst thing that can happen to you is to have a legal emergency in your business without being prepared for it.

Apart from the fact that it will cost you more money, time, and energy to pull through(if you will), it might in some instances cost you the business or a part of the business.

I have seen this happen many times...

Before the client could engage our expertise, things had gone so wrong that the best we could do was damage control.

The wrong thing about damage control is…

Though controlled, the damage had been done.

Don’t let this be you.

Make hay and haste while the sun is still up.

So, how can we help you today?

let's talk.
