hello #smartbusinessowner .
Welcome to today's legal tips.
I hope you have been getting value from our emails?
Today, I am going to share with you some grounds on which your partner or Co-founders can decide to exit your Startup.
you must know that Hostility is not the only reason why your Co-founder can exit your business.
this is why it is important that you understand this from the beginning and factor it into your Founders Agreement.
Have you thought about what would happen to the company if your Co-founder decides to leave?
Can the company survive the impact of the exit of any of your Cofounder?
Wait!
Did you really think that it is always going to be till death do us part?
are you preapred for the possbile?
Apart from unresolved conflicts, here are seven additional reasons why your Co-founder may leave your Startup.
Ill health. A Co-founder can become permanently ill and decide to exit the company.
Death. The ultimate end of all mortals is death. a cofounder can die. and if this is not prepared for, many things can die with them.
Education. Your cofounder could decide to go for a long study that might not give him time to support the business.
Family. This too can cause problems in many possible ways.
Relocation. our Japa is real!
Imagine waking up tomorrow and your cofounder has crossed over to Canada and never to return 🤣.
Marriage A spouse might not like the company or has something else and your cofounder might have to quit.
Better offer And yes, offers are flying around. Your cofounder could get caught and taken.
Listen...
Those you call your partners or Co-founders may leave for any of these reasons.
It is your job as a company to clearly state ahead of time what will happen to the shares of the exiting Co-founder/shareholder.
This is why it is advisable for shares to be vested over an idea period of time.
I hope this was helpful!.
