NDA Can not Protect an Open Secret!

Hello , I hope May is doing you great!
So today, let's talk about NDA.
In one of the previous letters, I mentioned that Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) are used to protect the proprietary or intellectual property of a business or an idea.
This means that as a startup or creator, one of your key assets is NDA.
However, NDAs can only be used to protect secret or not widely known information.
So if you go ahead to post all the confidential information about your business on social media all in the name of churning out great content, you are having a serious play o!
If you do this, even when you force your employees, partners contractors, or investors to sign an NDA, you have already shot yourself in the leg.
As a thought leader, social media strategist blogger, content creator, digital marketer e.t.c. you will need to be extremely careful with the kind of information you put out there on public platforms.
Your friend, out of the excitement of starting a new business told you some deep and secret information about their business, product or service, clients, marketing strategy, pricing policy etc.
Now in a bid to create engaging content for your audience and of course thinking that you are doing them a favour by granting them visibility, you literarily expose all the trade secrets that they told you in confidence.
In this instance, such an idea or information might no longer be duly and adequately protected by an NDA...
An NDA signed under such circumstances has become a paper and "tiger toothless bulldog Agreement" that cannot be enforced.
Yes you mean well for them, you are excited for them and want as many people as possible to know about them so you do not see anything wrong with sharing the information on social media.
Here is the thing you and many others don't know...
By posting confidential information and trade secret about the business on social media all in the name of content creation, you have successfully made that information public knowledge that can be tapped into by anyone.
Don't destroy your Business idea all in the name of storytelling.
Stop putting out commercially sensitive information about your business all in the name of content creation.
NDAs are a powerful tool for ideas and business protection and can be used by anyone whether you are a newbie or a budding Entrepreneur.
