You Have Been Denied!

Hello #smartbusinessowner ...

Welcome to a new week and Month

I hope you had a nice weekend.

Because I did.

I love new months because they give us all the opportunity to start all over again.

So today, let us talk about denial.

Yes, denial of your desired company name.

I feel it is time I let you in on this...

Listen, stop worrying your pretty head about whether your name got disapproved or not.

I see a lot of people do this.

it shouldn't be you #smartbusinessowner.

Trust me, CAC will mess you up.

Sometimes, I try not to believe that the institution has been structured to frustrate you in many ways.

So, when they deny your name, walk over and consider another name.

it is that simple.

The reason why people get devastated when their names are denied is that they just insisted on having a particular name approved.

It must not be that name, my friend.

I know it can be hard sometimes.

But how to make it easier is to make sure that you register your business before you start using the name and falling in love with it.

The problem becomes deeper when you have been using the name without registering it only to realize that it is a "no registrable name" or has been taken by someone else.

nowhere is a legal hack for you if you insist on using a particular name...

You can have it as your brand name even if it is not your registered name.

legally speaking, You can have 2 names...

a registered company name and a brand name.

Your registered company name is the name that appears on your certificate of incorporation with the CAC.

It is not the same as your brand name.

Your brand name on the other hand is the name with which you trade or do business.

Your brand name is largely for branding, promotion, and advertising while your registered name is for documentation purposes.

You do not need to register your brand name with the CAC.

So, If the name you intend to use for your company registration gets disapproved by the CAC, instead of insisting on it simply choose another name to register with the CAC while using the rejected one as a brand name.

Now, the smart way to claim exclusive use of the brand name is to trademark it.

That way, you still have the registered Company name and you still have your desired brand name.

The registered company can still be the registered applicant for the trademark.

Think of a registered name and brand name as your Official (birth) name and your pet( nick) name).

This is why a lot of the popular companies you know have different names as their registered names.

The name you know them with is just trademarked brand names.

You can now see that with smart advice, you can eat your cake and still get to have it😃.

And that is why we are here
