LibertyCon AAR

If you are like me, acronyms make you look and stare for a while, so I'll make this easy. AAR = After Action Report. I know fancy way of saying hear all about my trip. LibertyCon is one of my favorite cons. it is small with a max cap of 1000 people and it is where I get to see friends and peers that I rarely see at any other time. Which almost means I talk too much, stay up too late, walk my feet off, and imbibe like I'm still twenty. Newsflash - I'm not. Still twenty that is.

Lessons learned - I really need to up my daily step count. i was at 12-14k a day at LC and Dragoncon is easily another 4k a day on top of that. So that is my goal for July. Get my steps up to a minimum of 12k a day. If I can do that, I should be good. Just don't ask me how I'm going to do that. I have zero idea. I have been doing my elliptical though and I'm up to 15 minutes, so if I can do that all the way through July and August that will be amazing.

My Victorian UF is being the most twisty series I've ever written and it is taking me forever as there is so much coordination between the books while making each one different with a story that is just that siblings. I was hoping to be done by now, but it is being a bit slow. We'll see if I can kick things up in July. Get you new books sooner.

The only other news is the cat distributions system struck and we have a new kitten. I'm not good at turning cats over to shelters unless I have no choice. So meet Gizmo.

She got two flea baths the first night and was NOT impressed. She bit through thorn proof gloves. Lol. Poor baby. Wish I could have explained to her.

The vet said she was barely six weeks, so this is her trying to curl up into Manic our boy. He was pretty good, licked her and only hissed a little. Yes those are my purple crocs. House shoes.

Her maybe figuring out this isn't a bad place to be. So hi, Gizmo.

Book Recommendations!

Umm... yeah, mine. Tell people about mine. Lol. It's been a busy few weeks and I'm sure you're tired of me raving about Dungeon Crawler Carl.

The sun beat down on the man as he trudged across the desert wasteland. It had been a day since his last drink of water. His lips were cracked and his mouth felt like it had become sand. If he was headed the right direction, there should be a town ahead.

If.

He would have hid in the shade and moved at night, but there was no shade. So he walked. Cherry red sun burnt skin that might have once been a pale beige was all that was visible where the large grey shirt draped over his head didn't cover. Shorts, not the best clothes for this heat, revealed skinny legs that had blue tracings of veins that stood out on the red canvas.

But still he walked. It was that or lay down and die and he refused to give in that easily, but if he didn't find water and shelter soon, it wouldn't be his choice.

A shadow passed over him and he looked up. A single ominous cloud hovered over him and while a quick hope for rain sparked, it was pushed down quickly by fear. If he had the energy he would have run. Instead he kept trudging, eyes mostly closed as he enjoyed the shade. He tripped as the sand gave way to a dried lake bed. It jerked him out of his daze enough to look, then stare stupidly at the door standing in the middle of the lake bed.

There was no building, just a door that creaked opened invitingly, but he saw darkness not the lake bed, not sand, not even light.

Sir Joshua Hudson Lightmane stood there for a long time, just looking. Then shrugged and walked through the door. Staying here was death, at least the door might be interesting.

What would you do? Me? I think I'd take the door.
