Hello there,

Many have talked over and over about the benefits of getting proper sleep at night. What mini don’t discuss is the impact of lack of sleep on their minds and their bodies and their relationships.

Perhaps the reason they don’t discuss this is because they simply don’t understand fully the impact for themselves.

Here are five things that can be impacted daily when we don't get enough sleep making the the things that matter most hard to achieve:

🔹 Cognitive functioning- this presents with difficulty focusing on work or studies, as well as increasing the risk of errors in doing task and critical thinking. Further it impacts our ability to retain new .information and increase his forgetfulness

🔹 Emotional regulation – lack of sleep can increase irritability, mood swings, stress, responses, and more resulting in emotional outburst or overreaction. In this instance, we are more susceptible to depressive symptoms and ability to cope with day-to-day life, which for some can trigger existing PTSD and or result in anger outbursts. Imagine leaders in your workplace, unable to navigate their emotions and constantly being dysregulated while managing staff or representing your organization.

🔹Physical health - insufficient sleep, impacts our bodies ability to recover and weaken our immune system, as well as reduces our physical stamina. Imagine a construction company owner having to deal with employees or constantly fatigued, or ill, or in fact, imagine the owner of themselves being in this position.

🔹Metabolic concerns- when we don’t get proper rest, it disrupts the regulation of our hunger, hormones, leading to increase appetite and cravings for foods that are unhealthy for us. We know that there’s obesity epidemic around the world and no amount of obesity GLP drugs is going to fully fix this if we don’t change the habits that we have. I’m starting with me, how about you?

🔹Interpersonal relationships- people who are lacking, and Sleep are less empathetic, they misinterpret social cues, their decision making us impacted, they’re unable to listen and communicate effectively on a regular basis. This strains relationship is not only in our personal space, but with our coworkers and in public spaces.

When we increase our emotional intelligence, it is not just about increasing the set of soft skills and or confidence Sease under the emotional intelligence umbrella from abroad perspective. It is also looking at all of the micro processes that fall within this realm and something as simple as sleep can be part of your emotional intelligence growth, journey blueprint.

If you do not have a blueprint for yourself, you are not only short changing yourself, but you are short, changing those around you and robbing yourself of a more meaningful life. Working with professionals is more than an investment short term, it has the potential to create better long-term outcomes however that won’t happen if you don’t decide to invest in yourself..
