Pixars Inside Out and Joy

Hi friend,


Have you ever heard someone say "leave your emotions at home" or "control your emotions." Those two phrases used to seem normal to me until I started to be intentional about growing my own emotional intelligence.


It wasn't until I decided to do the work that I realized it is IMPOSSIBLE to leave your emotions at home or at the door. Emotions are the chemical reactions that happen in our body as a result of a stimulus. They give us joy, excietment, frustration and more. These reactions travel to virtually every cell in our body within 6 seconds. Knowing that occurs, it is the subsequent action that we can choose to work on and control for better outcomes. What is that you ask? BEHAVIORS! Emotions happen; however, a fully functioning person is able to channel their behaviors in an appropriate and healthy way.


If you've had self-defeating coping behaviors prior to realizing this; herin lies the problem. In my work as a coach I work with people every day who realize they want to understand the data behind their emotions and use that as a strategic resource as opposed to a judged emotional tabu. So is that you? Do you want to know how? In the movie Inside Out 1 & 2 the emotion Joy was every present always trying to be the positive light despite the opposing emotions. She did everything she could to make things appear happier and create successful outcomes. Joy is a core emotion that works for our good. Knowing this, we must understand this is data. Our other emotions tell us stories too.


Until you work to improve you own Emotional Intelligence, the data may very well remain in the dark for you behind other emotions that are trying to tell you something.
