For the next few days you can get my first M/M romance for free! It’s a steamy novella titled Zen Alpha: NOT a Shifter/Mpreg Story. I wrote and published it before I knew about the Alpha/omega M/M genre. I knew it was a thing in fanfic, but I didn’t realize omegaverse existed outside of it.
The alpha referenced in Zen Alpha is the alpha male of pop culture and M/F romance books. It’s about a guy pining for an alphahole as he overlooks the sweet guy right in front of him. It’s an Opposites Attract/Hurt Comfort story with flawed characters and some darkness. The narrating character is especially flawed. You’ll probably want to punch him in the throat at some points. He doesn’t know what he wants, doesn’t really know who he is, and is kind of a diva. He’s young and foolish. This is the story where he begins to grow up.
I wrote this novella after listening to two women ahead of me in the grocery store checkout line talking about how sexy trump was. After vomiting in my mouth, I went home and Zen Alpha was born.
I think I’ve really grown as a writer since I published this book, but it’s free if you’re interested. I don’t think it has many trigger warnings, but it’s one BIG one is a school shooting. I scheduled this sale before Uvalde. The violence in this book is off page, but it’s definitely part of the story. I seem unable to write a cute romance without sticking something like this in it. It seems like Sandy Hook happened somewhere around the time I wrote it, but I can’t remember because there are so many school shootings. One of the main characters is a teacher, and I can’t think of schools anymore without thinking about some maniac attacking them.
The story, though, isn’t about the shooting or the shooter. It’s about lovers responding to a tragedy and how it affects their relationship.

In other news, Carillon’s Corpus is currently being torn apart by my beta readers. Hopefully, there will be something left I can revise and send to my editor! If all goes well, I’m hoping to publish it by mid August, if not a bit sooner.
