Issue: July 2025
Hello my sweet Bunburians!
I just emerged from the writing cave to a very steamy summer day - not in the fun way 😉. But I'm so excited about all of the stories coming in the next couple of months. Keep reading for more information on that.
Summer is busy in my house with a lot of birthdays plus homeschooling. This year has been even more so with health issues and my eldest moving across the country. So my excuse that 'life gets in the way' has been very real. I know you all understand it. But sometimes, in the depth of it, it's hard to see our way out. This is my reminder to you to take extra care of yourself in those moments. Take a step away (whatever size feels comfortable) and do something to help you find your balance, whether it's a nap, a snack that we tell ourselves is unhealthy, or hiding away from all our responsibilities for an hour and read our favorite book. It will all still be there later, and with a deep breath, we can press on and be the strength others need too.
You can always use me as an excuse. I love hearing from you about what you like in the stories and what you more of. And if you know how to help me get the polls back in the newsletter, I'm sure I can find a bookish way to thank you.
Author's Life
I promise you a sneak peak at my story, 'Persuading the Stars' in 'Texting Ms. Austen' that is available for pre-order. If you didn't guess from the title, it's inspired by Austen's 'Persuasion', so it's a delicious second-chance romance. Reply to this email and tell me what you think.
She had worked too hard to let someone like Clark diminish her moment. Yet as her gaze swept the room full of military uniforms, an unexpected pang of longing caught her off guard. Eight years ago, she'd let herself be convinced to end things with the one person who would have understood what tonight meant to her. The one she let everyone persuade her they were too young, and she needed to let him go so he could pursue his dreams. After eight years, they thought she had moved on. But that bone deep connection with another person's soul doesn't just fade. They just become the gauge by which all others are measured.
"Get it together. This isn't the time to be weepy," she berated herself and dabbed a cold, wet cloth on her neck before returning to the event.
Ahead of her, a familiar laugh echoed down the hallway—deep, warm, and achingly recognizable. A tall man in a dark blue military blazer was backing toward her, gesturing animatedly to someone, not watching where he was going. No matter how she veered to avoid a collision, he was directly in front of her. He finally turned around mere inches away and threw his arms around her to keep her from falling.
"Sasha!" He stepped back quickly, the easy smile vanishing from his face as his eyes went cold.
"Hello, Gus. I go by Alexandra now." Inevitably, she would run into him when she took a role on the project, but she wasn't prepared for his hostility, not that she blamed him.
Next month is the release of 'Love's Forever Tale' with my retelling of Rumplestiltskin, like you've never seen. It's available for pre-order. I can't wait to share a sneak peak with you. In the meantime, check out the great book fairs below for more fr33bies.
