Princess Claire has all the luxuries a royal could ask for. Yet the king and queen believe she’ll never be ready to rule. When they are attacked within the castle walls by the Unkindness, a cult who uses magic, Claire sets out to prove them wrong. She and the cult leader strike a deal: collect all the royal’s crowns before sunrise. If she succeeds, they live. If she fails, they die.
Armed with her stubbornness, wit, and aid from her ex-bodyguard, they set off into the city’s streets to find the crowns. But the Unkindness it not going to make it easy. Danger lurks at every turn. Time runs short. Hope fades with every passing hour.
Can Claire save her parents and herself before sunrise?
