Guess who will be making an appearance in my upcoming hockey meets mafia release, Know the Score? It seems a certain New York mafia family will be spending some time in Vancouver.

“Expecting guests?” Dad asks me as the doorbell sounds out through the house.

“Well, if they got past your security, it can’t be the bogeyman, now can it?” I push to my feet and stomp out of the room.

However, as soon as I open the door, I eat my words. It seems I was wrong.

“Theo Valentino, did I miss the memo you were visiting?” I ask the bogeyman himself.

“Where’s Kathryn?” Liliana barges her way past her father and into the house.

“Please, come on in,” I call after her, my voice dripping with sarcasm. “She’s in the games room with Graycee.”

Liliana takes off through my house as I turn back to her father, who is still on the other side of my front door. He’s not alone though. No, he has his son and nephew with him too.

“Dad’s in the living room,” I tell Theo, Alessandro, and Enzo. The three men nod and follow me inside. I stop in front of my father and gesture over my shoulder. “Dad, you’ve got a visitor.”

“Valentino, what are you doing in town?” My dad stands and shakes hands with Theo. They’ve been friends for as long as I can remember.
