Hey Steamers,

I have been absolutely flat out this week. I have an event coming up in Perth over the weekend that I've been getting everything ready for.

Thankfully I have friends that come to my aid to help a girl out. The lovely Debra St James, if you’re like ‘who?’ then go and google her, she’s a romance author here in Perth too. Anyway, Debra came to my rescue and popped over to help me make up 1000 merch bags to give away at the every womans expo i’ll be at over the weekend.

After we’d finished we popped down to the coffee shop for a much needed caffeine fix. We got talking about life and in particular loved ones health issues, and she asked me ‘How do you cope with everything? How is it not just in your head all the time?”

My immediate response without thought was ‘I read’ and then I added ‘and I write.’

This got me thinking about reading as escapism. Everyone needs a way to switch off from the stresses and events of reality and reading a great book is a sure way to make your escape. Escaping into literature is a harmless pleasure that all of us here enjoy.

So after reading this email, I want you to make yourself a cup of coffee (or tea), get comfy and open a book. Go and explore worlds beyond our reality, find your peace within the pages of a great story.
