Here's an excerpt from my new hot mafia romance prequel!

“Thanks for dinner,” I said as I stepped out of the car.

“Aren’t you going to invite me up for one last drink?” he asked.

“It’s rather rude to impose an invitation for yourself, isn’t it?” I wasn’t surprised that this evening couldn’t go off without some sort of act of arrogance on his behalf. “That’s no way to treat a lady.”

“Funny, because I was thinking that it was ruder of you not to invite me up.”

“You’re impossible,” I scoffed. But as much as I wanted to tell him to get lost, something inside of me begged for the opposite. Maybe this was how it was with those bad boy types, your mind hated them but your body wanted them all the same. Or maybe I was wine drunk and needed the company.

“It’s okay if you’re scared,” Dominic taunted from inside the back seat of the car, a smug smirk on his face. “Not every woman can keep up with my charm. If you just want to cozy up in bed, I’d completely understand.”

I felt myself getting ready to tell him exactly where to shove it, but then, instead of slamming the door in his face, words suddenly blurted out of my mouth without my permission.

“Oh, trust me, I can keep up with your mediocre charm,” I said with a theatrical roll of my eyes. “Are you coming?”

I left the car door half open and turned to walk away. By the time I got to the door of my apartment building, I could hear Dominic walking up beside me. I turned to look and saw him holding a bottle of Verite in one hand and a look of satisfaction on his face.

This was most likely going to be one of the worst decisions I’ve made. I couldn’t wait.
