The End of the Year Is Really Here!?

We made it to December. Does anyone remember back when I was going on and on about how fast the year was going by? Poof! Just like that, it's gone.
There's a lot going on this month. On December 11th I celebrate two whole years of being a published author. That's so freaking wild! Two years ago I published my first book and now I have seven of them with book number eight coming out next month.
Speaking of book number eight, it's finishing up with the editor and heading off to a proofreader. I am so unbelievably nervous for Levi and August's story to be out in the public, but everyone who has gotten to see it so far, has absolutely loved it.
While Fighting for Freedom has some really heavy themes, I love that I still managed to find some sweetness for these two. They definitely deserved it.

August was looking at a long-sleeved shirt when I slid next to him and startled him from his thoughts. "Thank you for today. And for this stuff. I promise I'll pay you back when I get a real job."
August blew out a breath before he put the shirt he was looking at back on the rack. "It's not a problem. But I need to be looking for more work, too. I was doing okay when it was just me..."
My heart did a weird stutter in my chest. I hadn't meant for him to drop everything and take care of me. Hell, with the state of his car and the fact his apartment wasn't much better than the one I ran away from should have been a clue. It wasn't like he was rolling in the money. I looked at the shirts draped over my arm and chewed on my lip before looking back at August. "I can put some of these back. I can get by with what I have."
His smile was warm and made me feel all gooey inside. I didn't do the gooey shit. But since we'd been together the last few days, I was feeling all sorts of things. And, fuck, it had been fast. I didn't think I'd ever be the guy who fell in love with the first person he had sex with, but here we were. Although, August was different. He treated me with respect and wanted to keep me safe.
