When Weather is a Villian

It was 1 degrees Fahrenheit on my commute this morning. That's chilly. It made me think about weather in stories. It's important to give details about the sights, smells, and sounds in a story. The weather is a big part of that. I thought about Drizzt Do'Urden on the banks of Kelvin's Cairn in Sojourn. When I read that book I could feel the biting cold. Go buy the book if you haven't read it. Excellent.

I also thought of Frodo and the gang attempting to take the pass of Caradhras, in leiu of chancing the mines of Moria. For real go buy The Fellowship of the Ring if you haven't read it. The Kindle book is free!

Cold weather was certainly a part of my short story The Dead of Winter. Get it for free if you don't have it.

What stories can you think of where weather played a big role in the story? Email me and let me know. I love hearing from you! jack@authorjackadkins.com.
