A Gift From My Forest to Yours

A note from Jack Adkins · The Dragons of Dorwine

Every fall, my family spends a weekend walking the acres of our Ohio tree farm—not a Christmas tree farm, but a state-designated managed forest used for lumber. It's peaceful, it smells like earth and cold air, and it’s one of the few places where my brain settles down long enough to reset.

I took a few photos this year, and I wanted to share a few with you. Maybe you’ll feel a little of that quiet magic too.

Writing Update

Book 4 continues to move forward—slowly, but with purpose. The emotional core of this story is heavier than anything in the first trilogy, and every time I sit down to work on it, it pulls a little harder. Also, while this is technically Book 4, this is a different book from the rest of the first Dorwine trilogy.

Over on Royal Road, the next chapters of Nolan Keller are in the works. Expect another drop soon.

Lore From Dorwine

“Kelios could smell more than his mind could handle. Sweat, rancid breath, clothing that had gone days or weeks without being washed. He could even smell the residual sweet stink of herbs that his subconscious mind somehow knew. Every scent was so powerful Kelios felt nauseated. The guards pressed in on him. The lingering effects of the bear made his senses sharper than he would have liked but he had other things to worry about just now.”
—Kelios upon entering Usban Port.
