How is your end of year wrapping up?

Hey there!

Things are buzzing around this house as the Holidays approach quickly! Our kids are having a blast playing in the snow (as much as they can before the strange weird warm bursts melt it again). The end of the year is bringing its own level of chaos at work with end of year wrap up items. And of course, I'm thinking a lot about how I want next year to look for my author life!

But I refuse to not be reading something even with the chaos. I'm currently (finally, after years of wanting to) buckling down and reading The Fellowship of the Ring. But I am curious, what iconic fantasy book or series is your favorite to read?

Look, I'm not much of a goal person. *insert your gasp here* I know, I know, a goal unwritten isn't a goal, right? Or something more fancy. Well, it's not how my brain works (planning in general). Still, I have taken moments here and there to think about how I want to move forward. That said, I think, with my author goals in mind, I'm going to move to a more direct delivery approach to you, my awesome readers!

I haven't figured out exactly what that will look like, but the Ream community I set up is a part of the direct delivery ideology as well.

My Progress This Week

As of this week, Demonblooded is at about 68,000 words. Both fortunately and unfortunately, my discovery writing brain is taking it further than I expected, so there may be some cutting in my future. Still, I would not be surprised if this draft ends up closer to 120K than the goal of 100, but time will tell.

Other than the second book of the Hidden Heritage, I have leapt into edits on Darkness Incarnate which is the short story I'll be submitting at the end of this month to the Writer's of the Future Contest. This story turned out much darker than I expected, but I've been told it's an incredibly deep and moving piece. I can't wait to get this one in front of you as well!

I'll talk about this again at some point, but someone from my writing group convinced me to go to the LTUE conference in February in Provo, Utah. So if you're in that area and would like to come say hello around that time, I'd love to meet you!

Want Early Access to My Books?

I've been thinking a lot about my author life recently and one thing has becoming very apparent. I can write a lot more quickly than I can actually publish things. So the question is, why should you have to wait?!

I'm trying something new and I hope you'll consider coming along with me. Ream is a platform which allows authors to form communities around their writing and stories. So, I figured I'd get one started! If you are interested in getting early access to the books I'm writing and potentially helping me out in many ways, check out the Ream I set up! I'll be releasing early access chapters to my books every month where you can not only enjoy them alongside me, but you can also comment and add insight to the stories as I write them!

You can even sign up and follow me just for free and get additional updates/pictures.
