Plants, Goat Kid Preparation and Writing Progress
Apr 18, 2024 3:00 pm
Hey there!
This week has been an excellent one at the Kenner home. We're excited to get started with planting in our garden, and have even begun weeding and tending to the space in preparation for putting seeds and seedlings there in the coming weeks. Until then, we get to hang out with this set of shelves with our plant seedlings.
As you can see, we haven't filed up all the shelves....yet. We don't normally use the bottom shelves, on account of the 16 month old baby that would, without hesitation, eat as many of the seedlings and potting soil as possible. But hopefully the upper shelves will have more soon.
Our pregnant goats are due to have their kids this week, and while I thought there was a possibility that I'd have some pictures of new goat babies today, they aren't quite here yet. Based on what we have written down for their due dates, you will more than likely see pictures of the goat kids in my next update.
My Progress This Week
So far, I've drafted just under 45,000 words of Dwarfblooded, and things are really taking off. It normally happens when the plot thickens and as the book gets more exciting. I had a session just a few days ago where I wrote over 3k words in about an hour. Does it happen often? Not at all. But when it does, I am grateful for the little bursts of writing energy.
As you know, publishing has a lot of costs associated with it. That said, one of the costs I'm interested in trying to reduce for my publishing is cover design. (I know, I know, you may be thinking 'don't do that Dan! Self-made ones look terrible!) Don't worry, I'm very sensitive to that and plan to up-skill myself significantly before I actually publish. I know I have a lot to learn, but I'm enjoying the creative and visual process.
