Slow Updates, Kickstarter Excitement and Tricky Pigs!

Hey !
Author Update
It's been a hot second since I've sent an update, but here I am! I'm sure you missed me and all the author/homestead antics.
Despite the chaos of life, I'm happy to say that I've managed to keep my writing moving, even if at a somewhat slower pace. Since finishing the first draft of book five of The Hidden Heritage, I've begun writing the sixth and final book of the series (augh! it's crazy business). Trying to wrap my mind around completing the series is proving challenging. I've continued with my one short story a month goal (more on November's story below) but I've also been doing rounds of edits for book four of the same series (nearly ready for professional editing) and finalizing book three.
I am feeling confident that said book, Dwarf Blooded, will be ready for publishing later this month. Keep an eye out for an official publish date ;)
But most excitingly, to mention again, a short story of mine is being published in an anthology about 'Honor'. Picture this, a wizened mage and his magical familiar named Tovo are tasked with protecting their town against 'the Day of Dim' with their radiant magic. It's status quo for them, and the other mages of their order.
Yet something foreboding hangs on the wind. A neighboring town has gone quiet, reports of impending danger of an unknown nature. Will Veronas be able to stand up to the task despite his age?
If you want to read this and over 20 other fantasy and sci-fi stories in this limited edition version, back it now!
Finally! The November short story is here! I took a more 'cozy fantasy' approach with this one. Jeremy is a standard, screen addicted teen. Normal is what he prefers, but when his parents and his father's parents decide to head out of town, the only option for watching him falls to his Grandma Goody. He hasn't seen her since he was seven, and all he has is odd memories from the last visit. What's worse, technology doesn't work in her weird secluded mountain house.
But what if this vacation wasn't a coincidence? Grandma Goody seems to have something up her sleeve. There's something strange afoot, and it's more than her moody talking cat.
Homestead Update
The biggest thing about the homestead is how quickly the cold is approaching. We have freezing nights already, but it warms up during the day. I've already had to turn on the heater in the cow's water, but the pig and chicken water freezes over night and thaws the next day. Also, speaking of pigs, they are giving us more trouble then ever. The digging has gotten out of hand, I've already had to backfill some of the holes that are too close to the fence. I think they are too big to squeeze out, but still. Also, since there are three of them but only two feeders, they fight like crazy when we feed them. Looks like I'll be making another feeder so they can each have their own.
The past few weeks Lucy developed some mastitis in one of her udder quarters which has left her in quite a bit of pain. We were able to treat it fast enough that it wasn't a danger, but unfortunately it's not milk we can keep. So far we've been able to get it toned down so she's happy and we are comfortable with the cleanliness of the milk. Have you ever tried to hand-milk a cow who's in pain with a swollen udder? Those were not our favorite days (ours and the cow's).
And, for some reason, Mac (the baby-but-no-longer-a-calf-from-our-last-cow) likes to sleep on the ground like he's dead. It's given me a heart attack more than once, but now I just know what to expect. Apparently laying out on the ground is comfortable. He even waits to move until you are feet away from him. What a stinker.
